Obituary

Carol Lee LeRoy, nee Schultz, 70, born in Chicago on May 4, 1943. Cherished wife of her beloved late Robert LeRoy. Adored and devoted mother of Michael (Janet), Steven (Dunia), and Cathryn (Ezra) Ilani. Much adored grandmother of Benjamin, Sarah, and Samuel LeRoy; Veronica LeRoy; and Daniel, Natali, and Jacob Ilani. Loving sister of James (Sheila) Schultz and the late Donna (Mort) Sapkin. Loving aunt of many nieces & nephews. Carol fought a long and difficult battle with cancer. Determined to enjoy life as much as possible, Carol embraced hope. She faced adversity with a smile and a positive attitude. She beat the odds so often that friends and family believed she would always prevail over her illness. Carol touched many hearts and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. As a 4-H Leader for more than ten years, she mentored future leaders in business, education, and health care. Beginning in the 1970s, while she was young and healthy, Carol was an early advocate and guiding light for Fox Valley Hospice. During this time, she dedicated herself to the Sherman Hospital Auxiliary, where she served two terms as President. Her service earned Carol nomination as one of the Outstanding Young Women of Elgin. Carol turned her talents to managing a thriving construction company that weatherized thousands of homes in Chicago. Carol helped to found The Einstein Academy in Elgin, a school for academically talented students, and the Chabad of Elgin. With her husband, Robert, Carol contributed to the Zionist Organization of Chicago and Women In Business. Carol generously supported many other charities, including Magen David Adom and the Israeli Defense Forces. Carol’s family deeply appreciates the doctors and nurses who extended her time to touch more lives. Chapel service Wednesday 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to The Einstein Academy, 747
